N.B. Chester Film Society started showing films in 1972. Our records go back to 1990 but the level of detail really only improves from 2023 onwards. Also, we do not ask our audiences for comments and ratings for our summer season films and record less detail for those films than we do for our main season screenings.

Fish Storyย
A rock band writes a song called “Fish Story” based on a sentence from a badly translated novel by a quack translator. The song exceeds the boundaries of space and time and ties people and their stories together. Thirty-seven years go by, and the song strikes a comet and saves the Earth from total destruction.

Agora
A historical drama set in Roman Egypt, concerning philosopher Hypatia of Alexandria and her relationship with her slave Davus, who is torn between his love for her and the possibility of gaining his freedom by joining the rising tide of Christianity.
